ITW Universe expands sports business portfolio with India-Afghanistan T20I series

2 min read

The forthcoming India-Afghanistan T20I series, the first momentous India tour of Afghanistan, is gaining traction off the pitch, with ITW Universe and TCM attracting major sponsors into the commercial environment surrounding the product.

Valvoline has joined as the presenting sponsor, and the series will be led by Spinny, India’s leading renewed automobile online marketplace, for three matches.

The India-Afghanistan Friendship Cup, set for September 13, 15, and 17 at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in New Delhi, comes at a critical time for both cricketing nations. The series is part of Afghanistan’s Future Tours Program and is another milestone in the two nations’ burgeoning cricketing ties.

With spectators expected to attend three consecutive international T20I matches in the national capital, the property provides a chance for brands to participate in a high-engagement sports atmosphere that blends live cricket, fan enthusiasm, and brand storytelling.

For ITW Universe, which owns the series’ exclusive media rights and production mandate, the early collaboration between Valvoline and Spinny represents the first step of a bigger economic ecosystem being established around the franchise. The mandate brings together ITW Universe’s skills in media rights, broadcast production, sports marketing, and commercial partnerships, with teams in charge of creating the media and production experience for the series.

Bhairav Shanth, Co-Founder, ITW Universe, said, “The India–Afghanistan Friendship Cup is more than a three-match cricketing contest. It brings together two cricketing nations with a growing sporting relationship and gives brands the opportunity to be part of a property with strong audience passion and relevance. We are delighted to welcome Valvoline as our Title Sponsor, along with our longstanding brand partner Spinny as Powered By partner.

The early response from the market has been extremely encouraging. We are seeing brands look beyond conventional sponsorship and explore how they can become part of the larger fan experience and storytelling around a sporting property. With the series now around the corner, we expect the commercial ecosystem around the Friendship Cup to continue to grow.”

The partnership brands, such as Valvoline, Royal Stag Packaged Drinking Partner, Groww, and Spinny, demonstrate the breadth of categories looking to capitalise on the scale and engagement of international cricket, while ITW Universe keeps developing the property through relevant brand integrations, content, and experiences that go beyond traditional logo visibility.
