The Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO) has partnered with Meta to bring immersive, first-person storytelling to the T100 Triathlon World Tour, with the technology giant becoming the series’ official AI wearables partner.
The collaboration will see athletes, race officials and supporters utilise the new Oakley Meta Vanguard and HSTN Performance AI glasses to capture unique perspectives from training sessions and race weekends. By integrating AI-powered wearable technology into competition environments, the PTO aims to deliver behind-the-scenes content and first-person footage that offers fans an unprecedented view of both elite and amateur triathlon.
The initiative is designed to transform how audiences experience the sport by showcasing the intensity, strategy and physical demands of racing through the eyes of those at the heart of the action. In addition to professional athletes, friends and family members will also contribute content, creating a more personal and immersive viewing experience across the T100’s digital and social media platforms.
Commenting on the partnership, PTO Chief Commercial Officer Stuart Ramsey said, “We are very excited to be announcing this partnership. Meta aligns perfectly with our desire to use innovation to transform the sport of triathlon and champion the journey of every triathlete. It represents an exciting step forward in how cutting-edge technology can support endurance athletes while making triathlon more engaging and accessible for fans worldwide.”
“We already know that triathletes use wearable technology to help improve their performance and train smarter. But one of the biggest benefits of the Oakley Meta Vanguard glasses is the hands-free performance, which enables you to capture footage of your training and then racing. Beyond the athletes themselves wearing them, we’ll also be getting friends and family involved as well as race officials.”
The agreement reinforces the PTO’s broader strategy of leveraging technology to grow the commercial appeal of the T100 Triathlon World Tour and strengthen fan engagement. It also supports the organisation’s long-term ambition of building triathlon into a more accessible global sports property ahead of the launch of the unified Triathlon World Tour in 2027, where immersive digital experiences are expected to play an increasingly important role in attracting new audiences.
